As Superman, he routinely fends off women and men alike, who consider him to be “the most gorgeous being on the planet”. GENERAL OVERVIEW AND PERSONALITY
- Clark is typically rather serious in nature and finds it difficult to become comfortable with people instantly.
- Studious and quiet, Clark prefers to listen rather than talk; he generally finds public speaking to be tortuous but realizes he must do it as Superman.
- Clark has a strong sense of justice and prides himself on fighting for “truth, justice, and the American way”. He credits his adoptive parents’ upbringing for keeping him grounded and preventing him from abusing his power.
- As Clark Kent, he takes love and romance very seriously and has had two serious relationships his whole life. He admits, freely, that his fiancé (Lois Lane) is the love of his life. As Superman, he is very tightlipped about his personal life and tries to present an aura as someone who has no connections to anyone in the world. This is to prevent his enemies from using his family against him.
HOBBIES AND INTERESTS
- Clark loves to read; his favorite book is “To Kill a Mockingbird”.
- When not saving the world, Clark likes to spend time with his fiancé and his mother.
- Although Clark writes for a living, he enjoys writing in his journal; his first journal was given to him as a gift from Lois Lane and he’s been regularly keeping a journal ever since. No one, including Lois, has ever read his journal entries.
KNOWN POWERS
- Slower aging: Due to the effects of the Earth’s sun on Clark’s Kryptonian DNA, Clark ages slower than humans. He expects he will live to see at least two hundred, but that is mere speculation. He is, however, not immortal.
- Enhanced intelligence: Clark is smarter than the average human and is capable of retaining knowledge with very little time devoted to studying. It is unknown if this is an ability that all Kryptonians possess (i.e. they are more intelligent than humans) or if this a power that comes with the affects of the yellow sun on Clark’s body. He also possesses a photographic memory.
- Enhanced strength and regenerative powers: Clark’s super-strength is said to be unmatched by any being on Earth; when he is injured, his body quickly absorbs the yellow sun’s rays and he heals quickly
- Superhuman speed: Clark can run faster than speeding bullet and it’s rumored that he faster than the Flash/Wally West. Wally West disagrees.
- Laser vision: Clark’s ability to shoot lasers from his eyes has been honed to precision through practice and age. Clark is capable of lighting a candle accurately from as far as fifty miles away.
- X-ray and telescopic vision: Clark can see through objects and, using his telescopic capabilities, he can control how many layers he wants to see through
WEAKNESSES
- Kryptonite: Coming in a range of different colors, these pieces of meteor rock are parts of Clark’s home planet; each one has a different effect on him. Green kryptonite is the most common and, depending on the amount he comes in contact with, it causes him great pain and temporarily takes away his powers.
- Magic: Clark is not invulnerable to magic and it’s been speculated that he’s more vulnerable than most.
HISTORY AND BIOGRAPHY
Adopted by Martha and Jonathan Kent when they found him in a cornfield at age three (when his space ship crash-landed in a field), Clark Kent grew up in a small town called Smallville in Kansas. Once he reached high school, his superpowers began to manifest themselves and he struggled with fitting in at school and his friends (Chloe, Pete Ross, and Lex Luthor), getting the girl of his dreams (Lana Lang) to notice him, and saving the world from the dangers that lurked in every corner of the small town. When he was in his early twenties, he created an alter ego called the “Red Blue Blur” and began to live a life as a super-hero. He also got a job as a reporter at the Daily Planet, where he began to get closer to his friend, Lois Lane. Over time, their friendship blossomed into romance and they fell in love. Clark proposed to Lois, who accepted and they began to plan their wedding.
Unbeknownst to both Clark and Lois, Darkseid had sent his minions to Earth to take over the world and enslave humans. This dark threat led the world to declaring war against anyone who possessed super-powers and Clark, as the Blur, began to face prejudice and fear. On Lois and Clark’s wedding day, Darkseid arrives to finish his plan, but Clark dons the new uniform his mother had presented him with and defeats Earth’s enemies. After that feat, Superman is born.
Now, eight months after Darkseid’s attack, Clark is trying to balance being Superman (a superhero who is known world wide) and being Clark Kent, Daily Planet reporter. As Clark Kent, he is constantly running late everywhere and being told that his fiancé is a better reporter than him. Clark worries that he does not have enough time to spend with Lois and she’ll eventually leave him. As Superman, he feels his first priority needs to be the formation of a proper Justice League. Superman feels that the group that exits today is limited in membership and, as its leader, it’s his duty to create strong, clean image for all the meta-humans and people with powers in the world.
